LOVE YOURSELF FIRST
This February, we’re taking an alternative approach to Valentine’s Day; inviting you to focus on loving yourself first, hosting a series of events that encourage community, inclusivity, and self-acceptance.
It’s an alternative, but not a pioneering concept; for years, there’s been a growing focus on the importance of self-love. Our partners at Action for Happiness, the global happiness charity striving to create a happier world, give great advice on their website about how a shift of focus is required to be more accepting and compassionate towards ourselves.
Action for Happiness have 10 Keys to Happier Living that, based on scientific research, offer ways to live a more self-compassionate life. While they also admit that there’s not magic ingredient to self-love, science does show that there are practical things that we can all do to make a difference.
Science is well and good, but how can we bring these 10 Keys into our real lives? Luckily, at The Canvas, we have a packed programme of events in February that encompasses all of these 10 Keys, and they are open to everyone.
