Brown Girls' Book Club!
South Asian Sisters Speak presents... the Brown Girls' Book Club! Every 6 weeks we'll be announcing a new book by a female South Asian author, and organising a meetup in London to discuss themes of womanhood and beyond that are presented in these books. Alongside this, there will be an online discussion on our social media channels throughout the week of the meetup if you are unable to attend the face-to-face meetings.
Our first book is The God of Small Things, by Arundhati Roy. An all-time classic, first published in 1997, the book is set in Kerala and explores themes of human connection, politics, and femalehood in a South Asian context. Our first meetup will be on Thursday 31st May at the Canvas Cafe, London - so bring your comments and questions ready for the discussion!
Tickets are free, but you must have a ticket to attend as there is only certain capacity at the venue. The cafe is fully vegan so you can purchase snacks and/or dinner to enjoy with us! Only requirement is that you've read the book beforehand. See you there!
Also make sure you join the Brown Girls' Book Club Facebook group to join in the online discussion too: https://goo.gl/o7pNf3
