Reclaim the Power: Power Trip Film Screening and Q&A

Wed 06/06/2018 18:30 to 22:00

Doors at 6.30, film and intro from 7pm. The film will be followed with a Q&A with info about current fracking sites.

Power Trip is the hard-hitting expose of the British government's dash for unconventional oil and gas through fracking - and the efforts of committed citizens to protect the environment.

A thought-provoking film about fracking and resistance. Power Trip takes you onto the frontlines of UK resistance in the battle to stop the controversial energy extraction process known as fracking. It questions the effect on democracy when local voices are over-ridden by national policy-makers. It includes insights from Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, Caroline Lucas MP, journalist George Monbiot, Energy Research Institute director Prof Andrew Barron. The film also features the local residents and councillors who took direct action.

#Power Trip is a highly charged film that follows a group of Lancashire grandmothers as they teamed up with younger activists to shut down Cuadrilla's Fracking sites during 2017. It shows ordinary people going to extraordinary lengths to stop a dirty and needless industry from starting in England #WeSaidNo #KeepItInTheGround
